TMCC was founded in 1972 with a mission of… “focusing on general studies, undergraduate education, Career and Technical Education, scholarly research, and continuous improvement of student learning…in which the cultural and social heritage of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is brought to bear throughout the curriculum”.
“The Spirit Within Us” defines our approach to interactions with students, faculty, staff, and the community. We are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished as a tribally-controlled and accredited college. Over the last 38 years we have primarily served the educational needs of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians; however, at this point in our history we are open to any person that has a desire to pursue higher education.
TMCC is nestled within the boundaries of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian Reservation. Our main college site provides a breathtaking view of the beauty of our reservation. TMCC is located three miles north of Belcourt and nearly 8 miles south of the Canadian border, near the beautiful International Peace Gardens. TMCC has the honor of being one of the six founding members of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium.
In addition to a wide array of associate degrees and certificate of completion programs, TMCC is proud to offer four year degrees in Elementary Education and Secondary Science Teacher Education. We offer tuition and fee rates that are among the lowest in North Dakota. Our faculty and staff are well trained and extremely dedicated. If you can’t stop by in person, please explore our new and expanded website.
